UKCCSG Biological Studies Newsletter - October 2004 Issue: 10

Introduction

Welcome to the latest Biological Studies Newsletter.

We once again have to report the departure of the Biological Studies Trial Coordinator. Lisa Duffin has left to do a postgraduate course in education with plans to become a secondary school teacher. We thank Lisa for her contribution to Biological Studies and wish her well in her new choice of career. Lisa’s departure will leave a gap, particularly as this is a difficult brief and she had just learnt the ropes. We hope to fill this post as soon as possible. In the meantime, we are fortunate to have the help of Gail Jenner, Research Nurse at Addenbrookes.

UKCCSG Scientific Meeting, 2-3 December

Plans are underway for the Scientific Meeting. We have 4 invited lectures planned:-

  • Professor Andy Hall: Technological advances in cancer research.
  • Dr Roger Palmer: Gene expression profiling of germ cell tumours.
  • Professor Eamonn Maher: Imprinting and Cancer.
  • Dr Paul Scotting: The neuro-embryological origin of brain tumours.

This promises to be an exciting meeting but we are dependent on high quality abstracts to make this happen.

Please note that the deadline for submission of abstracts for this meeting has been extended to FRIDAY, 10 th SEPTEMBER.

UKCCSG Neuroblastoma Biology Meeting

We are hoping to have the Inaugural Meeting of the UKCCSG Neuroblastoma Biology Group on Tuesday, 8 th February 2005 in Newcastle. This will be a one-day meeting with a mixture of talks and poster presentations outlining the research in Neuroblastoma that is performed around the UK.
